The Levada do Alecrim is a fairly short, easy and accessible levada. The total round trip is 6.7 km, with very little difference in altitude. It starts at the edge of the ER 105, in the Rabaçal area, a few metres from its big sister: the levada of the 25 fountains and the do Risco waterfall. It suffers from a real lack of recognition, yet many people prefer it.
The route
The hike is quite short and leads us to the Lagon do Lajeado. Most guides suggest you turn back at this point. I propose an alternative which allows you to lengthen the route a little, for those who prefer to do loops rather than round trips.
This variant takes you to the source of the Levada do Alecrim and the Levada do Pico da Urz, and the dam of the same name: the Pico da Urze dam, which you should have seen when arriving from the ER105 road. This variant extends the hike by about 1 km.
Conclusion
A fairly short route that allows you to discover a levada over half a day, without getting exhausted. It is finally not very well known, so there will be less people on the trail and you will enjoy the nature and the landscapes much more! In the same area, you can combine it with another hike on the same day, the Vereda da Lagoa do Vento for example. This avoids having to take the car again.
Très belle randonnée assez facile quand on ne rencontre pas des troupeaux de touristes Il pleuvait le 18 Mars mais le parcours ainsi que les pinsons nous ont accompagnés et le soleil a fini par apparaître et le spectacle en valait la peine
