The windmills of Porto Santo

Located east of Vila Baleira, about 2 kilometers away: the windmills of Porto Santo. Built on the high hill of Portela at the end of the 18th century, there are still some of these mills that have been restored. This is an opportunity to have a superb view of the seaside town and the long beach.

The windmills of Portela were once used to grind cereals for bread making. The island of Porto Santo is particularly exposed to the winds and you will enjoy discovering them on this palm-lined path.
