Madeira in April

This is without a doubt one of the best months to discover Madeira! Of course April is crowded, it's the beginning of the season, but nothing like May! It's also the blooming period: we are coming out of winter with good temperatures and the end of the rainy season, which lasts from the end of October to March. In terms of prices, it's mid-season: the ideal time to compromise and not break your piggy bank too much!

What to do in Madeira in April?

We are in the middle of the flower season, so the best thing to do is to hike and go on excursions in the middle of nature to take in the sights and discover a world full of colour. What better way to see for yourself why this island is called the garden of the Atlantic, and the temperatures are ideal! The only disadvantage compared to May is that you miss the Flower Festival, which usually starts on 30 April. This is THE festival not to be missed in Madeira, although there are many others. There is also the Sugar Cane Fair in Ponta do Sol and the Lemon Festival in Santana in April.

Discovering the island and having a good time

The ocean may be a bit cold in April, although it's certainly possible to take a dip, but you don't go in spring to laze on the beach.

Participating in the MIUT: Madeira Island Ultra Trail

Let's be honest, I'm not the one who's going to do it, but I have a lot of friends who are runners, and since I've been working on this travel guide, I've come across the MIUT very often: one of the official ITRA races. It's not just for everyone.
