São Lourenço Point Lighthouse

Located on the Islet of Farol (Lighthouse Island), São Lourenço Lighthouse is located at the eastern end of Madeira. It is the oldest lighthouse in Madeira. It was built in 1870, and consists of a 10m high white tower. It has been modernized several times, in 1956, then 2000 and even more recently with a solar powered system.

It cannot be accessed and visited: the site is only accessible by boat and is located in an area protected by the Madeira Natural Park since 1982.

To see it from afar, you have to climb the small pico do Furado during the São Lourenço hike. You will have an incredible view of the islet and the ocean.
