Madeira is a volcanic and mountainous island, water is abundant and there are many springs, waterfalls and cascades all over the island. Man has known how to use them wisely and has built irrigation channels for crops: the levadas. The water is transported through a network of more than 2000 km in total.
There are many waterfalls. Some of these waterfalls, such as the Risco waterfall or the Bride's veil waterfall, are very dizzying and particularly well-known. Others, more intense, are paradisiacal in the middle of the green vegetation of the island. Discover Madeira's waterfalls here.
